About

Burns Park Start, Inc is an educational tax-exempt video production company

founded by Sheila Conlin in 2014.

The name comes from the neighborhood in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she grew up.

Sheila Conlin is a journalist who loves nothing more than bringing stories to life for viewers. Her passion for storytelling began in a small news station in Kalamazoo and carried her to a major network newsroom in Washington, DC.

While years of covering daily news was gratifying, she longed to tell more in-depth stories.

So, she created a video production company while continuing her position with the network.

Projects & Awards

Burns Park Start, Inc, has produced two documentary shorts. The very first film won Best Documentary Short in one film festival and was nominated for Most Inspirational Film at another. Her second film has been officially selected to be shown in six festivals and won Best Documentary Short in two of them.

Her first film, “The Back Story”, examined a young teenage girl’s life-threatening struggle with scoliosis. It explored the journeys of two women who took very different paths. One woman avoided surgery and struggled with the disorder. The other had surgery and went on to be ranked the number one-woman golfer in the world.

The second film, “The Secret Gift”, came out of a tragic event that forever changed the lives of Sheila and her seven siblings. It is a heartfelt tribute to the idea of “family.”
